Tomas Kral: Home-work

Kral-Home-work3Bravo Tomas Kral! Home-work is a simple well thought out desk, based around one massive piece of cast aluminium which forms a sort of work space bucket, sandwiched between two boards of ash. I love the constructive logic of the legs, the front legs are parallel to the sides but the back legs are perpendicular to the sides. The middle of the back legs, where an internal wire runs through a groove hidden along it’s legnth,(it’s behind the darker strip in the middle of the leg), lines up with a hole in the alluminium along the back of the desk  keeping the wires out of view.

Desks seem to be having a big moment right now. A few years ago I would see two or three at a furniture trade show now most stands have them, so it’s difficult to stand out in this market which seems to be mostly for home laptop desks. Super-ette who produces this desk have a great eye for original, functional pieces. This desk certainly has some of the most original functionality that I’ve seen in a while.Kral-Home-work4Kral-Home-work6Kral-Home-work1Kral-Home-work5Kral-Home-work2
